Stats and Joke

It was soooo cold even the signs were running!
hahahahaha

The stats:

10K 53:47
placed 480 with 3,259 finishes
351 out of 1542 men
10th in age group (of 82 runners)
(Looks pretty good for 82, doesn't he?)
Oh, that's 82 in his age group! haha!

Well done!

Run the Race!

We were up at 5:30 this morning to get ready for Eric's 10K Cowtown run at 7:30. The wind and temperature were brutal. Around freezing with a wind chill in the 20's. And he does this ON PURPOSE!??? There were several races from which to choose, and I was surprised at how many people showed up to participate. We think Eric's time was 53:43. Good job!

~~~~~
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses,
let us throw off everything that hinders...
let us run with perseverance
the race marked out for us.
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus,
the author and perfecter of our faith...
Hebrews 12:1-2
Thoughts on Thorns
I have been privileged in the last couple of years to be able to spend some time in my friend's back yard strolling through the mesquite trees right before Easter. I was able to do that again this past week. The walk alone looking at the thorns afforded me great compassion for the Lord as I contemplated the events before the crucifixion.
The crown of thorns was in itself a humiliation. A notice was prepared and fastened to the cross proclaiming JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS. Chief Jewish priests protested it and shouted for him to be taken away and crucified. They had proclaimed to Pilate that they had no king but Caesar.
Imagining such thorns crushed into his head is startling enough, but when mocking, flogging and crucifixion are added to the the accounts of his suffering, it is almost unbearable to ponder the depth of torture to which Jesus submitted, unto death, for each one of us.
Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged. The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe and went up to him again and again, saying, "Hail, king of the Jews!" And they struck him in the face.
Jn. 19:1-3 NIV
So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull. Here they crucified him, and with him two others~~one on each side and Jesus in the middle.
Jn. 19:17-18 NIV
Singing of Birds
Can you imagine a world without birds? This cardinal in my friend's back yard was quite accommodating. He would strike beautiful poses as he sang to me.
God blesses me so abundantly in what He lets me capture through the lens of my camera.
The flowers appear on the earth;
the time of the singing of the birds is come...
Song of Solomon 2:12 KJV
In the Heavens
Last night's sky did not produce great range of color, but the form was astounding. The clouds almost seemed like an old man's face blowing steam and light out of his mouth and nose.
~~~~~
In the heavens
he has pitched a tent for the sun,
which is like a bridegroom
coming forth from his pavilion,
like a champion
rejoicing to run his course.
Ps. 19:4-5 NIV

The Lord does whatever pleases him,
in the heavens and on the earth...
He makes clouds rise from the end
of the earth...
Ps. 135:6-7
