The mom skittered off
but the kit stayed behind.
A magpie swooped in
to see what it could find.
The kit sensed a presence;
it looked left and right.
I thought that this feeding
might end in a fight.
They ate next to each other
until both got their fill.
It was a pleasure to watch them
on Evergreen hill.
