"Even so"
I have been especially touched by many of the words from some great hymns of faith. This verse, from 'It is Well with My Soul' reminded me of these low early clouds in Arkansas. They seemed to be a scroll ready to be unfurled, or a wave ready to crash on the shore. The hymn is a tearjerker anyway, knowing Spafford penned the words in spite of having just lost all four daughters at sea. Only his wife was saved. Yet, having lost his children, he was still able to let these words come from a broken heart to yet praise God and proclaim that it was well with his soul.
~~~~~~
And, Lord, haste the day
when the faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back
as a scroll,
The trump shall resound
and the Lord shall descend,
"Even so"~~it is well with my soul.
Horatio Gates Spafford
