Up to my Neck

Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck.
Psalm 69:1-3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had to laugh when I came across this scripture today. You see, my granddaughter has just learned how to swim this past couple of weeks. I'm not talking about dog paddling, and making frantic progress while keeping one's head above water. I am talking about the gut-wrenching big breath before plunging your head under water with your hands stretched out in front of you, letting the "letting go" streamline your body and shoot you through the water to the waiting arms of your parent a few yards away.
Likewise, we make the most progress in trusting our Father when we take a breath, put our heads under water without being able to see; but trust that we are following His directions, following His voice, into His loving arms. The surrender, in the end, is what saves us. Paddling under our own steam with our heads above water just wears us out. It may seem safe, but it steals from us the best. Dive in and follow His voice! The fear that stops us from diving in steals the greatest adventures and desires of our hearts.
I love that, Connie. It is so scary to not be able to see and to have to trust. I always seem to question if I really heard God's voice right. Is this where I am supposed to be...supposed to do. All you can do is keep trusting and swimming hard. :)
Dive in and swim, girl! He gives us 'do overs' when we come up sputtering and off track. Thank God for his mercy!!! BTW, I think you hear Him pretty good. (c;
