To what end?

I had to laugh when I saw what I had captured in this pic. Four gulls were all going in different directions. At first it seemed like chaos, but as I studied the picture I began to see its meaning for me. I felt like it was portraying the members of the Body of Christ. One might be bold in leading; another a prayer warrior praying over the others; another flying off to do mission work;
another behind the scenes keeping finances and organizational things straight.

We often wonder to what end we were made. We wonder what our purpose is; what makes us significant in our existence. I can tell you that it is wonderful to be part of a church where it is vital and crucial to identify and develop the gifts of its members. It has been painful along the way for many who have been pushed aside or not noticed. It is just as frustrating for members of the body to be in the wrong place because that is what is needed, but not their skill set. There is a place for those good at finances, missions, music, creative skills, teaching, organizing, and all things that each of us as individuals in the body have been given separately in order that we might serve the Body with our skills. One is not better than the other; each is necessary.

We need the whole body to function! We need to find our groove because we are uniquely different and given gifts differing for a higher purpose!

~~~~~
As it is, there are many members, yet one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you' nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you." Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.
1 Cor. 12:20-21, 27
I'm finally putting myself out there more to take on or advise others of some of my skills as I see there is a need for them. And relationships flourish and apprciation is shown, which spurs me on to become more available and forthcoming with my skills and 'hidden' talents. I too am a different bird :) -Dee
